The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a 17-member committee to develop a comprehensive policy for standardizing the operations of private and mission-owned schools across the state.

Unveiled at the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, the committee is expected to deliver the policy within two months.

It will align with the newly approved National Policy for Non-State Schools while addressing Lagos’ specific educational needs.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, said the move reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to inclusive and quality education.

She expressed hope for a world-class policy document and pledged institutional support and oversight.

OEQA Coordinating Director, Mr. Remi Abdul, described the initiative as a milestone in reforming education governance in the private sector. He said it could serve as a model for other states.

Abdul also acknowledged the technical support of the DAWN Commission and the PLANE programme.

The committee is chaired by Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, Director of Private Education and Special Programmes at OEQA.
