The Kogi State Government has launched a training programme for 2,310 youths across its 21 local government areas in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), conversion technology.

Announcing the initiative in Lokoja, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described it as a strategic step to equip young people for Nigeria’s transition to cleaner, sustainable energy.

In partnership with Sufpay Ltd, the programme aims to produce a new generation of skilled professionals ready for the evolving energy sector.

“CNG is the future, and we are proud to be preparing our youths for it,” Fanwo said.

He added that the initiative not only empowers youths economically but also serves as a proactive approach to addressing insecurity through productive engagement.

“This reflects Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to youth development. Our youths are our greatest asset,” he stated.

Fanwo praised Sufpay Ltd for its technical support and emphasized that the training aligns with national efforts to reduce reliance on petrol while tackling unemployment.

Training is decentralized to ensure accessibility, with centers located in Lokoja, Okene, Idah, and Kabba.
