Kebbi State’s anti-narcotics agency has reported major gains in its 2025 drug control efforts, arresting 121 suspects and seizing over 270kg of illicit substances, including cannabis and psychotropic drugs.
State Commander Rabi’u Abdullahi-Sokoto shared the update during the UN’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
He also noted 24 successful convictions and 27 individuals rehabilitated.
Highlighting the theme, “Evidence is Clear, Invest in Prevention,” Abdullahi-Sokoto stressed that prevention is more effective and economical than treatment.
Through the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), campaign, the agency is engaging schools, communities, and workplaces to discourage drug use.
He praised Governor Nasir Idris and First Lady Zainab-Nasare Idris for supporting the renovation of the female rehab center and broader anti-drug initiatives.
He called for collective action from leaders, parents, and the media to create a drug-free Kebbi.
