President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says the newly commissioned Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja will significantly reduce transport-related crimes, especially the notorious “one-chance” robberies in the FCT.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at Thursday’s event, Tinubu described the terminal as a major infrastructure milestone under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The project, executed by the FCTA under Minister Nyesom Wike, is part of activities marking Tinubu’s second year in office.
He praised Wike for delivering a modern transportation hub that will improve safety, create jobs, and stimulate commerce.
According to him, the prioritization of mass transit infrastructure is essential to national development.
“With this development, the era of falling prey to ‘one-chance’ criminals will be over,” Tinubu declared, noting the terminal’s advanced features, including surveillance systems and verified driver registration.
Wike, in his remarks, commended the National Assembly for budget approval and announced plans to build similar terminals in Bwari and Gwagwalada.
He said the terminal will be managed by private operators to ensure efficiency and revenue generation.
The commissioning marks a key step in Tinubu’s urban renewal efforts aimed at safer, smarter mobility in the FCT.
