President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described individuals and groups promoting a coalition for the 2027 general elections as “political Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).”
The statement, made during a recent address in Abuja, was widely viewed as a sharp criticism directed at opposition parties and certain factions within Nigeria’s political landscape.
Tinubu expressed confidence in his administration’s ongoing reforms and governance approach, dismissing claims that his government would face serious challenges in the upcoming electoral cycle.
According to him, the so-called coalition promoters are merely attempting to remain relevant in Nigeria’s political discourse without a clear strategy or credibility.
He noted that his administration remains focused on delivering its promises to Nigerians, including economic stability, improved security, and infrastructural development.
Tinubu emphasized that his policies aim to lay the foundation for sustainable growth and progress, ensuring that citizens experience tangible change by the next election cycle.
The President also called on Nigerians to remain patient and united, assuring them that his government is working tirelessly to address the country’s challenges.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to reposition the economy and improve living standards across the nation.
The comment comes amid growing speculation about potential alliances and coalitions being formed by opposition parties in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Tinubu’s remark appears to underscore his administration’s determination to counter any political threat while maintaining a firm grip on power.
Observers believe the President’s statement sets the tone for a long-term political strategy, signaling that the ruling party is gearing up to navigate Nigeria’s complex political terrain ahead of 2027.
