Police Raid Drug Den, Arrest Six Suspects in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered a large quantity of hard drugs during a raid on a drug den in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Thursday.

He said the operation followed observations by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, that drug abuse is a major driver of criminal activities in the area.

Ikenga noted that the commissioner has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on drug-related crimes in Oko and its environs.

The statement read in part:
“Consequently, operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, in the early hours of June 25, 2025, raided a drug den in Oko, arrested six suspects, and recovered a large quantity of various hard substances.”

The suspects were identified as Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna; all males aged between 24 and 35.

Ikenga stated that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to provide information, particularly concerning recent criminal incidents in the Oko area.

“The command believes that this operation may help to curb the rising rate of criminal activities and expose more criminal networks in the region.

Further developments will be communicated,” the statement concluded.
