Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has declared Friday a work-free day to commemorate the Islamic New Year 1447AH.

This was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, in Katsina.

The governor extended his heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims in the state and across the country on the occasion of the new Islamic calendar year.

According to the statement, Governor Radda urged the people of Katsina State to continue to live in peace and harmony, emphasizing that no meaningful development can occur without peace and stability.

He explained that the work-free day was declared to enable civil servants and residents to join other faithful in celebrating the new year and to reflect on its spiritual significance.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

Additionally, Governor Radda called on farmers and beneficiaries of government agricultural support to make judicious use of fertilizers, tractors, and other farming implements distributed to them to boost food security during the ongoing rainy season.

He also cautioned farmers against the illegal encroachment of cattle routes, forests, and grazing reserves.

The governor concluded by praying for continued peace, unity, and prosperity in Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
