Gov Alia Vows Justice for Murdered Kano Travelers, Condemns Attack as Barbaric

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the killing of two travelers from Kano State in Agan community, Makurdi, describing the act as “barbaric and unacceptable.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Governor Alia expressed deep sorrow over the incident and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice.

“The brutal attack and murder of two men from Kano State who were traveling through our state is a heinous act that will not be tolerated,” he said.

He emphasized that Benue people are known for their hospitality and peaceful disposition, and warned that criminal elements will not be allowed to destroy the state’s reputation.

Following the incident, the governor directed the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to apprehend those responsible.

He confirmed that five suspects have already been arrested in connection with the crime.

Governor Alia extended heartfelt condolences to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and the families of the deceased, assuring them that justice would be swiftly served.

He also called for calm and urged residents to remain peaceful, stressing that efforts are underway to ensure the situation does not escalate into a broader security crisis.
