Qatar has officially reopened its airspace following a temporary closure caused by an Iranian missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base, a key U.S. military installation in the region.
In a statement posted Tuesday on its verified X (formerly Twitter), account, the Qatari General Civil Aviation Authority announced the resumption of normal flight operations.
“The General Civil Aviation Authority announces the resumption of air traffic in the airspace of the State of Qatar and the return of the atmosphere to normal,” the statement read.
The missile strike was reportedly part of Iran’s retaliation for U.S. attacks on its nuclear facilities over the weekend, marking a dangerous escalation in regional hostilities.
Al Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Doha, is a critical hub for U.S. military operations in the Middle East and was among the targets hit during the Iranian strike.
While no casualties have been confirmed publicly, the incident prompted a swift temporary suspension of flights as a precaution.
International airlines have since resumed scheduled operations through Qatari airspace.
