Iran has launched missile strikes on United States military bases in Qatar and Iraq, marking a major escalation in tensions following recent US-led attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

At least six missiles were fired late Monday, hitting Al-Udeid Air Base near Doha and several locations in Iraq. Explosions were heard in Doha, and smoke was seen near the city.

The Pentagon confirmed “active threats” but did not release casualty figures.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, described the attack as a “legitimate act of defense” and warned of more forceful responses if provoked further.

The Biden administration is reportedly seeking China’s help to prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil route.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that such action would threaten international energy security.

Gulf states including Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE have activated emergency protocols, while oil prices surged past $100 per barrel amid fears of wider conflict.

Military experts caution that the situation could spiral into a regional war if diplomatic efforts fail.

This is a developing story.
