The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has called on President Bola Tinubu to back his promises with concrete action by ensuring the swift realisation of the long-awaited Ibom Deep Seaport project.

In a statement issued in Uyo on Monday and signed by its president, Solomon Adodo, the youth council said the project is key to unlocking economic growth and job creation for the people of Akwa Ibom and the Niger Delta at large.

The group’s call follows Governor Umo Eno’s declaration during his formal reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC), on June 21, where he said his primary reason for joining the party was to secure federal support for the seaport’s actualisation, a project that has stalled for over 30 years.

The NYCN also commended the State Commissioner for Youth, Dr Everette Ekanem, for his commitment to strengthening youth engagement and alliances across the state, stressing that projects like the Ibom Deep Seaport must be prioritised to deliver tangible benefits to Nigeria’s youth.
