The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Alabo Alfred, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday, revealing that the victims were attacked on June 20, 2025, around 9:47 p.m. in Mangun village while travelling from Zaria, Kaduna State, to attend a wedding in Qua’an Pan LGA.
According to the police, the passengers lost their way and were ambushed by an angry mob, who set their bus on fire.
Twelve people were confirmed dead, seven sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 14 others were rescued unhurt.
“Upon receipt of credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer of Mangu Division to mobilize to the scene.

He has since deployed operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and tactical teams to support ongoing investigations and ensure the arrest of more culprits.
The statement emphasized the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining peace across the state.
“The Commissioner of Police urges residents to remain law-abiding and avoid taking laws into their own hands. Suspicious activities should be reported to the nearest police station or security personnel,” the statement added.
