FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has assured residents of Life Camp that no affected person will be excluded from compensation as work progresses on Phase 2 of the Obafemi Awolowo Road project, also known as Arterial Road N5.
Speaking during the inauguration of Phase 3 of the road, performed on behalf of President Bola Tinubu by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Wike emphasized the administration’s inclusive approach.
“Whether you are labeled indigene or not, compensation must be paid,” he said, citing this commitment as key to resolving earlier challenges.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for backing the FCT’s infrastructural push, noting that Phase 2 of the project, which connects to the airport, will be completed before year-end.
Akume hailed the project as a significant step toward easing traffic across Dape, Gwarimpa 1, Kado, Karsana, Idu, and Mbora, enhancing connectivity from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3.
In a related development, Wike inaugurated a relocation committee to finally move Apo Mechanics traders to Wassa District; a promise unfulfilled since 2011.
He announced that both the FCTA and traders will visit the site on June 27 to assess infrastructure needs and begin preparations.
Wike urged the traders to remain united and promised the relocation would be handled with fairness and urgency.
