Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have joined forces with other political heavyweights to apply for the registration of a new political party named the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

In a letter dated June 19 and received by INEC on Friday, the group, under the banner of the National Opposition Coalition, expressed their intention to challenge the current administration by forming an entirely new political platform instead of aligning with existing parties.

The coalition, which includes notable figures like Umar Ardo of the League of Northern Democrats, believes the new party will harness public discontent and offer credible alternatives to Nigerians ahead of the next general elections.

The application, signed by ADA’s Protem National Chairman Chief Akin Rickets and Secretary Abdullahi Elayo, included the party’s constitution, manifesto, logo, and records of meetings.

ADA’s proposed slogan is “Justice for All,” and its symbol is a maize cob, symbolizing abundance and food security.

INEC has yet to comment on the application, though it previously emphasized that all party registration requests must comply with constitutional and electoral regulations.

The coalition insists that ADA has met all necessary requirements.

The political landscape is now bracing for a potential shakeup as the country awaits INEC’s verdict on ADA’s registration.
