The Nigerian Navy has deactivated eight illegal refineries and arrested three suspects during a series of coordinated operations in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The operations, conducted by the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Escravos, were part of Operation Delta Sanity II, aimed at curbing crude oil theft and illegal refining in the region.

In addition to the arrests, naval operatives impounded two boats used for illegal activities.

One of the boats was powered by a 40-horsepower Yamaha outboard engine, while the other had a 200-horsepower engine.

Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Captain Ikenna Okoloagu, issued a stern warning to those involved in crude oil theft and illegal refining, stating that the Navy will not hesitate to bring offenders to justice.

The Navy reiterated its resolve to protect Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure, promising sustained operations to eliminate all forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.
