Nigerian security forces have killed 12 armed bandits during a joint operation in Katsina State on June 18, 2025.
The operation, involving the Army, Police, Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes, followed an early morning attack on Rahamawa village in Charanchi LGA.
The attackers injured a 60-year-old man, Alhaji Danmalam, and stole 22 cattle. He later died from his wounds.
Security operatives tracked the bandits to Dutsen Falale, a known hideout between Kurfi and Safana LGAs, where a gunfight ensued.
Twelve bandits were neutralised, and five AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and the stolen cattle were recovered.
One vigilante was also killed, while a soldier is receiving treatment for injuries.
Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, confirmed the operation and reiterated the government’s commitment to ending insecurity in the region.
The raid is part of wider efforts under Operations Fasan Yanma and Hadarin Daji to combat banditry in the North-West.
