The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers following a coordinated operation in response to a robbery incident in the Tanke area of Ilorin.

In a statement released on Wednesday, June 19, 2025, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the arrests and provided details of the operation.

The suspects reportedly broke into the residence of one Abdulrazak Dotunji at Oke Odo, Tanke, during the early hours of the day.

Prompt distress calls from residents led officers from the Tanke Divisional Police Headquarters to the scene, where three suspects were arrested.

A fourth suspect was apprehended later that day during a stop-and-search operation along the Sanrab Junction-University of Ilorin road.

Police said he was identified through preliminary interrogation and is believed to have fled the scene during the initial raid.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Danjuma Abubakar, Alkassim Abubakar, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Mohammed Awal.

All are currently in custody at the Kwara State Police Command headquarters, where investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement in other robberies.

Recovered items include a Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used during the robbery, a knife, two industrial oxygen cylinders, and other suspected stolen property.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi assured the public of the command’s commitment to pursuing all leads and bringing every accomplice to justice.

She commended residents for their vigilance and timely alerts, which contributed significantly to the successful operation.

This development comes amid a broader police crackdown on rising criminal activity in Ilorin, particularly burglary and street robbery.

Community leaders praised the swift police response, describing it as proactive and confidence-boosting.

The police command urged members of the public to continue supporting security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious movements or individuals to the nearest police station.
