Nigeria’s senior women’s cricket team is setting its sights on the 2025 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers in Namibia following a strong performance at the Kwibuka Women’s Invitational T20 tournament in Rwanda.

Despite finishing fifth out of nine nations, the Female Yellow Greens displayed resilience, winning five of eight games. They bounced back from early losses to Zimbabwe and Brazil with four consecutive victories.

A key highlight was a dramatic five-run win over Uganda, sealed by Anointed Akhigbe’s final-over hat-trick.

Rising star Kehinde Amusa bagged three straight Player of the Match awards.

Head Coach Leke Oyede said the team’s grit and growth during the tournament are promising signs as they prepare for the Africa Division 1 Qualifiers in Namibia.

The top two teams from Africa’s Division 2 Qualifier in Botswana will join Nigeria and others in Namibia to battle for spots in the global qualifier for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales.
