The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has directed all accredited tertiary institutions to verify and upload student data on its newly upgraded Student Loan Application System (SLAS).
The directive was issued in a statement on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications.
She said the fully digitized SLAS platform is designed to improve transparency and efficiency in the loan process.
Institutions are now required to formally request access to the platform via registration@nelf.gov.ng to begin verifying student information, uploading data, and tracking applications in real time.
“This step is crucial for timely loan approvals and disbursements,” Oluwatuyi noted, warning that data verification and uploads are mandatory before any loan can be processed.
While a “Verified” status shows an application has passed initial checks, final disbursement is only possible after institutional confirmation.
Once verified, a student’s status updates to “Disbursed,” indicating fee payment.
Students can contact info@nelf.gov.ng or NELFUND’s social media handles for further assistance.
NELFUND urged institutions to act swiftly to prevent delays in loan processing due to administrative gaps.
