NEMA Receives 147 Voluntary Returnees from Niger Republic

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has received 147 Nigerians who voluntarily returned from Agadez, Niger Republic.

The repatriation, which was facilitated by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with key stakeholders involved in migrant support and reintegration, was completed on Sunday, June 16, 2025.

According to NEMA, the returnees arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport at 12:48 p.m. and were immediately received by a joint team of government and humanitarian agencies.

Out of the 147 returnees, 143 were adult males, while the rest included one male child, one adult female, and two female children.

Following their arrival, the returnees were moved to Badala Hotel in Kano, where profiling and documentation were conducted on Monday, June 17.

The agency also confirmed that one of the returnees was reported ill and received immediate medical attention from the Red Cross.

NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the reintegration of returnees and ensuring their access to necessary welfare services.
