The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of the House on the Rock Church, has reported to the command for questioning over a viral video that appeared to show him holding a gun-like object during a roadside encounter.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter), handle on Tuesday, the command said: “No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.

“Investigations commenced after a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object during an interaction with another road user, while driving an unregistered vehicle.”

The statement added that the outcome of the investigation will be made public.

The video, which quickly went viral, showed Adefarasin holding a metallic object while speaking to a bystander who appeared to be filming the encounter.

Social media users have since speculated that the object was a firearm.

In response, Pastor Adefarasin denied brandishing a weapon. In a message shared on his verified social media platforms and addressed to his congregation, he described the incident as a misunderstanding.

According to him, the object in question was not a firearm, and at no point was it pointed at anyone.
