Aliyu Audu, a former senior special assistant on public affairs to President Bola Tinubu, has vowed to work towards removing the president in the 2027 general elections.
Audu, who was appointed in October 2023 and resigned on June 8, 2024, made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
He said he could no longer remain in Tinubu’s administration, alleging that the president prioritises vengeance over national progress.
“I sought God’s face and He gave me approval. I could not, in all honesty and conscience, be part of this government while plotting its removal in 2027,” he said.
“By God’s grace, we will remove President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Nigerians will come together to install a leader chosen by all, not one propelled by a sense of entitlement. Not ’emi lokan’,” he added, referring to Tinubu’s 2022 campaign slogan in Yoruba, meaning “it is my turn.”
Audu, who now leads the APC Rebirth Movement, said President Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech, in which he taunted the opposition, confirmed his decision to withdraw support.
“Our progress as a nation depends on healthy competition. That is how human progress works,” he stated.
