As the world marked International Father’s Day, Pastor Alex Ogundipe of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa, Abuja, has called on fathers to be responsible role models for their children.

Delivering an exhortation during the special Father’s Day service on Sunday, Pastor Ogundipe emphasized the need for fathers to lead by example and guide their children in godly values.

“A father must be a mentor. If he fails in that duty, his children may seek direction from the wrong sources such as bad friends, harmful social media content, which can lead them astray and harm society at large,” he warned.

Citing Genesis 18:19 and 1 Timothy 5:8, he underscored the biblical expectation for fathers to train their children in the ways of God, love their families, and provide for their households.

He noted that the celebration of Father’s Day is a reminder of the critical role fathers play in shaping their children’s future.

Also speaking, Pastor Nathaniel Ayankanmi, in a sermon titled “The Father: God’s Steward”, charged fathers to remain faithful to God’s calling. Drawing from Philippians 4:9 and Joshua 24:15, he urged them to model godly behavior in their homes.

According to him, a faithful father must live a life of purity, be kingdom-driven, and avoid worldly distractions.

International Father’s Day is observed globally every third Sunday of June to recognize and appreciate the contributions of fathers and father figures to family and society.
