The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video circulating on social media, in which an unidentified man alleges harassment by police officers.

In a statement issued on Friday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that preliminary findings suggest the incident occurred on June 4, 2025, at approximately 1:00 PM.

According to Adeh, a surveillance team from the Kubwa Area Command was on routine patrol around the Chikakore Bridge axis—a location under active surveillance due to security concerns—when they observed a vehicle suspiciously parked for over 20 minutes along the FO1–Chikakore Road.

“Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found two male occupants. While attempting to question them to ascertain their identity and purpose, one of the individuals became confrontational, challenged the officers’ presence, and accused them of harassment,” she explained.

The individual then drew public attention to the scene, sparking the online backlash that followed.

In response to the viral video and in the spirit of transparency, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, has summoned the officers involved.

Adeh confirmed that internal administrative procedures have been initiated.

The command also urged the individuals featured in the video to come forward and provide an official statement to aid the investigation and ensure clarity.

“The FCT Police remains firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and respectful engagement with the public,” Adeh affirmed.

She further encouraged members of the public with relevant information to contact the command’s Public Relations Officer directly at 07038979348.
