The Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced a temporary road closure on Friday, June 14, 2025, to facilitate the inauguration of a newly completed section of the Outer Southern Expressway by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the FCTA, the 15-kilometre left-hand service lane of the expressway, stretching from Ring Road I Junction to Wassa Junction, will be officially inaugurated at 2:30 p.m.
Vehicular movement along the route from Apo Mechanics Village to Wassa will be restricted between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the closure. Traffic enforcement officers will be deployed to manage flow and reduce inconvenience to the public.
The FCTA has appealed for cooperation from the public and assured that the closure is temporary.
Traders, mechanics, and shop owners in Apo Mechanics Village have voluntarily agreed to suspend business activities for the day to welcome the president and attend the ceremony.
Normal business operations are expected to resume on Saturday.
The Apo-Wassa Road project is one of 17 key infrastructural projects lined up to mark President Tinubu’s second year in office.
It is the third to be completed and handed over, reflecting the administration’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory.
