The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has issued a weather alert predicting widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various parts of the country from Wednesday through Friday.
Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure personal and environmental safety.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in northern states including Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Gombe, and Bauchi.
In the southern and central regions, a cloudy atmosphere with chances of morning rain is anticipated in Ondo, Ekiti, and Edo, followed by isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours, particularly in Kaduna, Kebbi, Zamfara, Adamawa, and Taraba.
The central belt, including Niger, Nasarawa, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), will experience patchy clouds with sunshine intervals and prospects of early morning thunderstorms.
Further down the forecast period, NiMet projects that Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba will continue to witness thunderstorms and rain.
The public is urged to stay updated with daily weather information and heed safety advisories, especially in flood-prone areas.
