The Federal Government has commenced the rollout of high-speed internet in hostels at the University of Abuja, in a move aimed at boosting digital access for students.
The project, implemented in partnership with Tizeti and Galaxy Backbone, also covers the University of Lagos and is part of the broader Fibre to Hostel initiative championed by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
Students are now enjoying internet speeds ranging from 50 to 200 Mbps, providing better access to online learning platforms, research tools and global innovation resources.
According to the Ministry, the initiative is a public-private partnership designed to bridge the digital divide and will be extended to more universities across the country in subsequent phases.
