The 2025 edition of the celebrated Ojude Oba Festival began in magnificent fashion in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, attracting thousands of attendees who gathered to honour tradition, royalty, and the rich cultural identity of the Ijebu people.
Held annually, the Ojude Oba Festival is a cherished cultural event that dates back to the 19th century.
It serves as a platform for the Ijebu community to pay homage to their revered monarch, the Awujale of Ijebuland, while showcasing the values of unity, faith, and pride in their heritage.
What began as a gesture of gratitude from the Muslim community for the Awujale’s support of religious freedom has grown into one of Nigeria’s most iconic cultural events.
This year’s festival was once again marked by the vibrant return of Farooq Oreagba, whose bold fashion and charismatic presence captured public admiration.
His flair added to the pageantry and excitement that marked the opening of the celebration.
As festivities continue, the spirit of Ojude Oba remains strong, blending history with glamour and reinforcing the Ijebu people’s commitment to preserving their cultural legacy.
