The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced additional special train services on the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kaduna routes to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the Eid Kabir celebrations.

Managing Director of NRC, Dr Kayode Opeifa, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Lagos, signed by the Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mr Callistus Unyimadu.

Opeifa explained that the new services follow the overwhelming response to earlier special trips operated on Thursday, June 5, which saw full bookings and heavy commuter traffic.

“These extra trips will ease return travel for festive passengers heading back to their destinations,” he said.

On Monday, trains will run from Lagos to Ibadan at 8.00 a.m., 1.55 p.m., and 4.00 p.m., while trips from Ibadan to Lagos will depart at 8.00 a.m., 11.03 a.m., and 4.46 p.m.

To manage high demand, the Abuja-Kaduna route will continue its six-trip daily schedule through Tuesday, June 11. Departures from Abuja to Kaduna are at 7.45 a.m., 2.00 p.m., and 3.10 p.m., while Kaduna to Abuja services will leave at 7.00 a.m., 2.00 p.m., and 5.00 p.m.

Opeifa said the move reflects the corporation’s dedication to efficient, safe, and timely rail services, adding, “These additional trips show our commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail mobility.”

The NRC urged passengers to arrive early for security checks and to complete online bookings in advance, as all train departures will be strictly on schedule.
