Power Outage Hits Many Areas in Abuja -AEDC

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has reported a widespread power outage affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory due to a technical fault on the feeders supplying the areas.

In a statement issued on Saturday, AEDC listed the affected locations to include Efab Classic Estate, Metro City Estate, Sticks and Stones, Yayala Estate, Trademore Estate, Choos Estate, Maxcare Plaza, Faith Plaza, Sunflower Plaza, Erifu Estate, DME Estate, Earthpoint Estate and Sunnyvale Estate.

Also affected are Brains and Hammers (1, 2, and 4), Hunters Garden, Ecofitness, Airport, NJI, NARSDA, NABDA, Lugbe Shoprite, Riverpark Estate, War College, Dunamis, NIGCOMSAT, Passo Village, Paiko Village, Dobi Community, SHEDA Complex, Kwali Town, WaterBoard and Abaji Town.

Other impacted areas include Gishiri, Mabushi, Kadokuchi, Navy Estate, Anan House, Jahi Village, NAF Conference Centre, Lake View Phase 182, Custom Quarters, Dakibiu, Today Estate, parts of Dape District, Katsina Estate, Paradise Estate, Ochacho Estate, Kafe District, America Embassy Estate and parts of Gwarinpa and its environs.

The company assured residents that its technical team is working to resolve the fault and restore electricity supply as soon as possible.

This latest blackout adds to the series of power disruptions experienced in the FCT in recent months.

In April, several communities suffered outages following a system failure.

In January, supply was disrupted due to the relocation of transmission towers by the Federal Capital Development Authority, while in December 2024, a maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria led to another round of outages.
