The Kaduna State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has condemned the recent wave of bandit attacks in parts of the state, describing the development as tragic and a clear failure of governance.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the state party chairman, Edward Masha, the PDP expressed grief over the deaths and injuries resulting from the attacks on Kagara and Ugom communities in Giwa and Kajuru Local Government Areas, respectively, which occurred between June 4 and 6, 2025.
The attacks claimed the lives of Salisu Aminu and Stephen Alhassan, both of whom were described as respected members of their communities. Several others were injured.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the quick recovery of those injured. The senseless violence must stop,” the statement read.
The party strongly criticized both the state and federal governments for what it called their “consistent failure to safeguard the lives and property of citizens,” insisting that the worsening insecurity reflects a collapse in leadership.
The PDP specifically urged Governor Uba Sani’s administration to review the state’s security framework and called on the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to become proactive.
“The Ministry of Internal Security has become alarmingly dormant. It must be revived to coordinate efforts with federal forces to prevent further bloodshed,” the statement added.
The PDP also called on the State Emergency Management Agency and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to promptly assist affected families with relief materials and psychosocial support.
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of Kaduna residents, the PDP vowed to continue holding the ruling All Progressives Congress accountable.
It urged citizens to remain calm and hopeful as the 2027 general elections approach.
