Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has accused some Abuja-based politicians of sponsoring deadly attacks in the state, alleging that they provide support and shelter for armed groups.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Alia said a judicial panel set up by his administration has submitted an interim report indicting several top politicians, including some members of the National Assembly.

He added that the full report is expected next week.

“These politicians are harbouring the attackers, paying their bills, and equipping them. It’s extremely unacceptable,” Alia said.

He insisted the violence has gone beyond farmer-herder clashes and described it as politically motivated. Alia vowed to act on the final report to protect residents and uphold peace in the state.
