The Trade and Technology Department of Government Secondary School (GSS), Kubwa has hosted its maiden trade fair, aimed at integrating entrepreneurship into the secondary school curriculum.
The event aligns with the FCT Education Secretariat’s initiative to equip students with skills to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Director/Principal of GSS Kubwa, Dr. Anderson Kolawole Oseh, said the fair was designed to give students a platform to showcase their entrepreneurial talents and engage with the local business community.
A strong proponent of entrepreneurship education, Dr. Oseh ensured the provision of resources for the event’s success.
The two-day fair featured a variety of student-made products from practical lessons, including wall paints, slippers, handbags, wigs, braided hair, snacks, and pen holders.
Many of the items attracted buyers, with students making significant sales.
Local traders also took part, displaying clothes, shoes, bedding, and food items.
The event was lively, colorful, and a testament to the growing spirit of enterprise among the students.
Dignitaries at the opening ceremony included Dr. Mohammed Sani Ladan, Director/Secretary of the Secondary Education Board, represented by Dr. Niyi Elijah Owolabi, Head of the Trade and Entrepreneurship Division. Principals from other secondary schools and board officials were also in attendance.
