The spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Superintendent Josephine Adeh, has been named Police Public Relations Officer of the Year at the 2024 Nigeria Police Force Awards and Commendations Ceremony held Wednesday night in Abuja.

Adeh was recognised for her professional handling of security communications and her effective use of social media to enhance police-citizen engagement.

Also honoured was SP Obi Sentome of the Zone 16 Cybercrime Section, who received an award for integrity after reportedly rejecting a $17,000 bribe offered to secure the release of a suspect in custody.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the awardees for demonstrating courage, integrity, and dedication to duty.

“The officers we celebrate today are not extraordinary because of fame or fortune. They are extraordinary because of their refusal to be ordinary. You are the embodiment of quiet heroism, and tonight, we stand in tribute to your legacy,” Egbetokun said.

He added that the awards represent a shift from routine recognition to merit-based celebration, noting that the selection process was rigorous, transparent, and based purely on performance and impact.
