Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman says representing the Super Eagles has significantly transformed his career and personal life.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 27-year-old was part of the England squad that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017 before switching his international allegiance to Nigeria in 2022.
Since joining the Super Eagles, Lookman has become a key figure in the team.
He played a vital role in Nigeria’s impressive run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, contributing three goals and one assist in seven matches.
Speaking on the impact of his decision, Lookman said: “Without a doubt, it changed my career and my life. People know that. This is my home. This is my place. I enjoy it here. I am the son of the soil.”
Lookman was also honoured as Africa’s Best Player at an award ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, last December.
