As Muslims prepare for the Eid El-Kabir festivities, the Katsina State Police Command has announced the deployment of robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration across the state.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police said the proactive measures were approved by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, as part of efforts to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the Sallah celebration.
“In anticipation of the forthcoming Eid El-Kabir festival, adequate security arrangements have been made to guarantee the safety of all residents across Katsina State,” the statement read. “Personnel and resources have been strategically deployed to key locations to prevent any breakdown of law and order.”
The Command urged residents to cooperate fully with security personnel on special Sallah duty and advised parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against unlawful behaviour.
Activities such as reckless horse riding, dangerous driving, substance abuse, and unlawful gatherings have been specifically flagged as threats to public safety.
The police also warned criminal elements to shelve any plans to disrupt the celebrations, stressing that any attempt to cause unrest will be met with decisive action.
Citizens were encouraged to report suspicious activities using the Command’s emergency lines: 08156977777, 09022209690, and 07072722539.
Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu extended warm Sallah greetings to all Muslim faithful and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the festive period.
