The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, has applauded the Federal Government’s clean energy and climate action initiative, describing it as timely and in alignment with the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.

She gave the commendation during the grand inauguration of the first-ever Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG), facility in the North-East, held at the Greenville LNG Retail Station, Jimeta-Yola.

“In Adamawa, we have seen the devastating effects of climate change.

“That’s why this LCNG project is not just a federal intervention; it’s a lifeline. It aligns perfectly with our administration’s goal of becoming a fresh air government where every citizen can breathe safe and clean air,” Prof. Farauta said.

The project, championed by Greenville LNG and commissioned by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, PhD, was hosted by the Governor of Adamawa State, H.E. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON.

Prof. Farauta described the initiative as critical to reducing harmful emissions, improving public health, and securing the future for younger generations.

“This is about saving lives and saving Nigeria. The emissions we inhale daily have serious health implications, and we are thankful this facility is addressing that challenge,” she added.

She expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and urged for more interventions of this nature across the country.

“Please extend our gratitude to President Tinubu. We need more of such transformative initiatives,” she said.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment, the Deputy Governor assured that the Adamawa State Government would continue to collaborate closely with the Federal Government to ensure the success and sustainability of the LCNG project.

The event drew key stakeholders from the energy sector, environmental advocates, government officials, and residents, all of whom lauded the facility as a game-changer in the region’s journey toward a cleaner, healthier future.

Present at the event were the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, PhD, Program Director PiCNG, Engr Mike Oluwagbemi Program Director PiCNG and other high profile dignitaries.
