The abducted traditional ruler of Dari community in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, His Royal Highness Emmanuel Omanji, has regained his freedom following a successful police operation.
The monarch, who was kidnapped from his palace on May 28, was rescued late Monday night, June 2, by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force during a tactical operation in the Panwasa Mountains near Mada Station.
Confirming the development in a statement issued Tuesday in Lafia, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the rescue was achieved around 11:00 p.m. after the Police Command’s Search and Rescue Team sustained intense pressure on the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their victim.
HRH Emmanuel Omanji was found unharmed and has since undergone medical evaluation before being reunited with his family.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects behind the abduction, as the police intensify their manhunt for those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, expressed appreciation to members of the public for their support and to other security agencies and vigilante groups for their collaborative efforts, which contributed significantly to the monarch’s safe return.
The rescue has brought relief to the Dari community and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated security action and community partnership in combating crime.
