Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that no individual within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has the moral standing or political weight to question his membership in the party.
Speaking during a media chat on Monday, the former Rivers State Governor responded to criticisms regarding his political loyalty, affirming his continued membership and contributions to the PDP.
“I am still in the PDP,” Wike said. “I’ve not seen anyone bold enough to tell me I am no longer a member. Who would say that? What has the person contributed to the party more than I have?”
Wike, who currently serves in President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, emphasized that his loyalty lies with the President, not partisan affiliations.
“The only person I put above all is Mr. President. I am doing what I do to support his administration and to deliver results,” he stated.
Renowned for his bold political style, Wike reiterated his readiness to challenge power structures and enforce reforms, regardless of whose interests are affected.
“I take joy in stepping on the toes of the so-called big men; those who think nothing can happen. I say, something will happen,” he declared.
The minister also defended his policies on urban development and land reform in the FCT, insisting that change requires tough decisions and the courage to disrupt the status quo.
His remarks have reignited internal debate within the PDP regarding loyalty, party discipline, and leadership direction. However, Wike maintained his stance.
