The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has donated and launched an e-health solution at the Ondo State-owned Specialist Hospital, a move aimed at easing patient queues and improving overall healthcare delivery.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, represented by NCC Project Director Philip Eretan, said the initiative aligns with the commission’s drive to harness the power of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to revolutionize the healthcare sector.

He noted that the e-health project is designed to make medical services more accessible, efficient, and effective, with two major advantages: integrating the healthcare system into the digital economy and empowering citizens to participate more fully in that economy while receiving care.

The hospital’s Acting Chief Medical Director, Dr. Adesina Akintan, represented by the Director of Research and Training, Dr. Ndiddi Okunnugba, described the project as a groundbreaking development.

He stated that the solution would enhance healthcare delivery through accurate data collection and analysis, enabling more informed medical decisions.

Dr. Akintan also appealed to the NCC to provide training for hospital staff to ensure they can effectively use the new system for data sharing, patient monitoring, and better coordination of medical care.
