Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, has praised the ongoing infrastructural transformation in the Federal Capital Territory, describing Abuja as “fast becoming a world-class city” under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during a weekend inspection tour of key projects in satellite towns, Nwuche lauded the administration’s pace of development, which he noted cuts across both urban and rural communities.

“Abuja is becoming something else;a true world-class city. The developments are not just in the city centre but also in rural areas. If we had maintained this pace since 1999, Abuja would be far more advanced today,” he stated.

The tour, led by Minister Wike, showcased projects ahead of President Tinubu’s second-year anniversary celebration. Among completed projects were the Gwagwalada market and palace road, and the 15-kilometre A2 to Pai road.

Ongoing works include the 15.4-kilometre Pai to Gumani road in Kwali Area Council.

Nwuche, who served in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic between 1999 and 2003, described the progress as unprecedented and urged continuity in execution to ensure inclusive development across the FCT.
