The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced water rationing across Abuja following the shutdown of two major treatment plants for urgent rehabilitation.

In a statement issued by the Minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, the FCTA disclosed that only two of the four water treatment plants are currently operational, as Phases 1 and 2 have been shut down for equipment upgrades by SCC Nigeria Limited.

To manage the reduced capacity, the FCT Water Board will alternate water distribution between Lines 1 and 2 across the affected areas.

However, the administration assured residents of a temporary restoration of full supply during the forthcoming Sallah celebration to ease the burden.

The FCTA urged residents to store water and cooperate as the two-week rehabilitation work progresses.
