The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has arrested a pastor and three others for alleged involvement in child trafficking.

The suspects include Pastor Prince Bassey Ajah, popularly known as “Daddy G.O.” of Wells of Salvation Church, Byazhin Across; his younger brother, Isreal Ajah; and two women—Nancy Atoo and Deaconess Vera Duru.

Police operatives attached to the FCT Police Response Team arrested Isreal Ajah around 2:00 a.m. at the Wazobia Motor Park in Gwagwalada as he attempted to travel to Owerri, Imo State, with a seven-year-old boy.

Following a distress call from park officials, police moved swiftly and intercepted the suspect.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the child was being trafficked for sale, allegedly in a deal worth ₦1.2 million arranged by Deaconess Duru.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Pastor Ajah and the other two female suspects. During a search at Nancy Atoo’s residence, police rescued another victim; a four-year-old girl identified only as “Mercy.”

No documentation was found for the child, who was reportedly named by the suspects.

She is now in protective custody, while efforts are underway to trace her biological family.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.

She said the suspects had planned to sell the children in Owerri before their arrest.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, commended the swift intervention by motor park officials and police operatives.

He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to avoid sending minors on errands unaccompanied.

The command also urged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, or 07057337653.
