Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate installation of streetlights on the newly completed Apo to Wassa road, marking a major step toward reviving a project abandoned for almost a decade.

During an inspection tour on Thursday, Wike disclosed that the absence of lighting on the OSEX II road was due to an omission in the original contract, which was awarded more than ten years ago by previous administrations.

“It was not awarded by this administration, but President Tinubu insisted that we must complete abandoned projects. I have directed that streetlights be installed,” Wike stated.

He revealed that the construction company, CGC, has already submitted its quotation for the streetlight installation.

Wike expressed confidence that the development would boost security and safety for residents commuting along the newly completed route.

The minister also visited ongoing projects at the Kubwa interchange and Daki Biyu road.

He noted that both are nearing completion and are among the key infrastructure projects scheduled for commissioning in June.

“The quality of work we are seeing is impressive. Abuja residents deserve the best, and that’s what Mr. President is delivering,” he added.
