Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Abuja is experiencing a historic transformation under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the capital’s development as unprecedented since its creation.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during a tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across the city, part of the celebrations marking the President’s second year in office.

“President Tinubu’s impact in the FCT over the past two years is historic. We’ve never witnessed this kind of focused development before,” Wike stated. “There’s visible, measurable work being done across the city. And it’s not just here his footprint of performance is resonating nationwide.”

The minister pointed to the completed left-wing service lane on the Outer Southern Expressway, linking Apo to Wassa Junction, as one of several major achievements.

He also disclosed that streetlights would soon be installed to improve safety, with the contractor already proposing that phase.

Among the key projects nearing completion are the N20 Interchange connecting Wole Soyinka Way to the Murtala Mohammed Expressway and the new access road linking Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu District.

These projects are expected to be inaugurated during the anniversary celebrations.

“We were once vocal critics saying Abuja wasn’t working. Today, we are the ones admitting it’s finally working and that’s thanks to Mr. President,” Wike admitted.

He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering excellence in the FCT and urged residents to play their part by supporting government initiatives and upholding civic duties.

“The President believes Nigeria deserves excellence and here in the FCT, we’re making sure that belief is reflected in every road, every project, and every initiative.

“The infrastructure transformation you’re seeing today is just the beginning,” he said.
