The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of children’s rights and the promotion of their welfare across the nation’s capital.
This assurance was given by the Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs, Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, who represented the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, at the 2025 National Children’s Day celebration held at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Benjamins-Laniyi said the FCTA remained focused on fostering excellence in education and creating a safe, supportive environment for every child in the territory.
“Today, as we gather to celebrate our children, we call on our teeming students in the FCT to rise against bullying and speak up whenever confronted with this radical menace,” she said. “I urge you to avoid bullying and channel all your energies to academic resourcefulness, in order to shape a better tomorrow for yourselves.”
The Mandate Secretary reiterated that the administration was actively working to ensure that children enjoy their rights to education, protection, and participation in a secure and inclusive environment.
This year’s Children’s Day celebration carried the theme: “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.”
