Côte d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Faé has named Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, and Morocco as the top contenders for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), title.
In an interview with New National Star, Faé admitted that defending the title will be tough for the Elephants, despite their status as reigning champions.
“Morocco, of course, Senegal, Nigeria, Egypt,” Faé listed when asked about the favourites.
“As title holders, we’ll also have that status to live up to. Also, watch out for the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa,” he added.
Faé also noted that some underdog teams could pose a serious challenge, saying: “There will be serious outsiders-not the most expected-but who will have a card to play with necessarily less pressure.”
