Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has described the club’s absence from next season’s Champions League as a potential turning point in their rebuilding process following a dismal 15th place finish in the league.

Speaking in Kuala Lumpur ahead of a preseason friendly, Amorim suggested the break from continental duties might offer the space needed to reset the squad and focus on long term strategy.

“It could be an advantage to build the core we need,” he said.

United, who also fell short in the Europa League final against Spurs, are currently touring Asia in a bid to boost revenue.

Reports suggest the trip could generate up to $10 million.
