Two men suspected of aiding kidnappers were apprehended by a local vigilante group in Gundun Karya, Kuje Area Council, while allegedly transporting supplies to abductors hiding in a nearby forest.

Danjuma Ishaku, a vigilante member, revealed that the suspects were arrested around 5:48 pm last Thursday as they rode a motorcycle loaded with food, cigarettes, and energy drinks intended for the kidnappers.

According to Ishaku, the arrest followed a tip-off that linked the men to the abduction of two villagers last week from Gundun Karya and neighboring Huni Gwari.

The duo had reportedly bought the items in Gadabuke village and were trailed as they attempted to deliver them to the criminals’ hideout along the border between the FCT and Nasarawa State.

“Actually, the security operatives in the company of some vigilantes had already received intelligence information about the two suspects when they went to purchase some food and other items in Gadabuke village. And it was after they had finished buying the items and were on bike to the forest when they were apprehended,” he said.

Ishaku added that the suspects confessed they were acting on instructions from the kidnappers, who gave them N172,000 to procure the items.

The arrested individuals were swiftly taken away by security agents to Abuja for further investigation.

Last week, armed men stormed Huni Gwari, killing two residents and abducting two others – a man and a woman. The victims remain in captivity, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding N20 million as ransom.

Efforts to get a reaction from FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful as calls to her went unanswered.
