Nollywood is once again in mourning following the sudden death of actress Tolani Akintunde, a beloved face from hit television dramas Everyday People and Palace.
The veteran actress reportedly died in the United Kingdom after suffering a heart attack.
The news broke through a heartfelt post by media personality and Best of Nollywood Awards organiser, Seun Oloketuyi, sparking a wave of grief across social media platforms.
Akintunde, who left Nigeria years ago in search of better opportunities, had been living quietly in the UK where she built a life in business.
Despite her absence from the screen, she remained fondly remembered by fans and colleagues for her charm and contributions to early Nollywood storytelling.
Facebook has since become a gallery of tributes. One user, Omotayo Elebijo, wrote, “Sun re oo Tola. You will be remembered for making people around you happy.”
Family sources say her daughter is devastated by the news and struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Akintunde’s death marks another painful blow to the Nigerian entertainment industry which has seen a string of losses this year, including Monalisa Stephen, Rotimi Raji, and Nkechi Nweje who was recently buried in Anambra.
Her memory now joins the roll of stars whose legacies continue to light up the hearts of fans even in death.
